It is 11 PM on December 23rd, and Santa's workshop has gone dark. Tinsel McGillicuddy installed the SleighOS update a day early and tripped the Holiday Shutdown Protocol, which locked every department, killed the lights, and put the toy line to sleep. Santa gets exactly one full night of rest a year, and tonight is the night. He cannot wake up. You and your team are the seasonal Night Shift, and you have until the midnight inspection to bring the workshop back online and get the sleigh ready to fly.

North Pole Night Shift is a cooperative escape room you play in a browser over a video call. Your team explores five candlelit rooms in full 360, from the workshop floor and the mail room to Mrs. Claus's kitchen, the reindeer stables, and the sleigh bay, waking each dark department as you go. Nothing here can be solved alone. What one person needs is usually written down somewhere another person is standing, and a few moments ask for more than one pair of hands at the same time. Most of the shift happens in conversation: describing what you see and getting everyone onto the same page.

The mood stays cozy and gently funny, full of elf bureaucracy, sticky-note memos from Management, and a cocoa machine named Gerald who has opinions. Nobody is evil and nothing jumps out at you. The worst a machine will do is sneeze glitter. It suits corporate teams and family gatherings, and welcomes players who have never touched a video game. It works as well across time zones as it does around one table. Built for teams of two to eight, and a shift runs about ninety minutes.

How to play

  1. Step 1

    Clock in

Everyone opens the session link and types a name. Nothing to install and no account to make. Keep a video call running next to the game, because that is where the shift really happens.

  2. Step 2

    Look around in 360

Drag to look in any direction. A warm amber glow marks anything you can open, from a punch clock to an oven to a filing drawer. Doors carry the whole team into new rooms as departments come back online.

  3. Step 3

    Work the stations together

Puzzles open as panels the whole team shares. Take a room each or crowd around one station. When something in front of you mentions a thing someone else saw, say it out loud, and know that a few moments need the whole team acting at once.

  4. Step 4

    Ask for a nudge

Being stuck is part of the fun. Every puzzle offers gentle hints that get more direct the more you ask, and a host can steer a group back on track. There are no timers and no penalty for a wrong guess, so try things freely.

  5. Step 5

    Prep the sleigh

The night runs in five stages. It goes from punching in to the launch itself, and the final stage needs every person on deck. Plan for about ninety minutes of play, with a little time on either side to brief and debrief.

The team report

Play the game. Keep the evidence.

An escape room makes a team show its working: who takes charge, who checks the details, how the group recovers when a puzzle fights back. The report catches all of it. Our reporting bot sits in on your video call while you play, and the reports land in your inbox minutes after the game ends. They are built from what your team said in the game, not from a survey.
